Natures Beauty

The one thing that I have actually loved all of my life since very early childhood is Nature. When I disappeared as a child people knew to look for me either high in a tree or in the woods just sitting by the trees not having a care in the world. As an adult, it is basically the same kind of love except I do not climb trees any longer (not saying I will never do it again, just not currently.)

When I am looking through the lens of my camera, it is the same exact feeling. It is like I step into another world that is filled with nothing but beauty. I am known to block out any noise around me while doing photography and often just totally absorb myself inside the camera.

Since I am an amateur photographer, I do not rely on just taking one photo of something and suspect that photo will be perfect, I actually take several photos of the same object, hoping I could catch the essence of what I am photographing. I read long time ago that each photographer will end up taking thousands of pictures before they feel they have captured just the right shot. Since I currently have almost a thousands photos in different files on my computer, I can honestly say I have not really captured the "Breath Taking" perfect picture yet. That does not mean I do not like several of my photos, but I am still trying to capture that "just right" photo.

This hub is about sharing some of my photography of things I personally find beautiful in Nature and some tips I have learned along the way.

Macros Photography

As I mentioned on my hub Amateur Macro Photography one of my favorite things to photograph are Flowers especially when I do Macro photography. Not too long ago, my husband purchased me a Nikon 40mm Macro Lens because of my love for photographing things up close.

Although, I do love the lens, it is still not my favorite lens to do macro photography with. I feel I can capture some very good macro shots with my 55-80mm lens that are just as good as the the 40mm lens. One of the biggest differences I have noticed is when using my 40mm lens, the raw photos are good; I never have to make any adjustments whereas with macros from my 55-80mm lens, sometimes I have to do an auto-level adjustment and/or use a soft light level.

I am sure each photographer will feel differently, but I feel once a photographer gets use to using one lens, it often becomes their favorite. In my case with all my different lens, I love my 55-80mm the best.

What are your thoughts?

Do you have a special lens that you consider your favorite and it can often do some of the same things as other lens?

  • Yes
  • No
  • Yes-I have a favorite lens but it cannot always do what I want it to do
  • No-I do not have a favorite lens, I love them all

Beauty seen through a Lens of Camera

Source: New Growth

What is beauty?

When I took this photo "New Growth" it was taken with my Fuji S1000 camera. My husband and I were walking along this trail and when I looked over I seen this little tree stump and all this new growth growing from it. I seen this odd beauty that caught my attention. To me personally, it is just filled with beauty and it truly resembles how life works. The decay will become compost and be food for the earth, the moss and the tree fungus display a beautiful contrast to the whole scene. I am known to take A LOT of photos like this. I also have this thing about taking photos of different kind of stone steps you find in the forest or woods, especially when there is different things growing from them.

My husband and I are heading up North Georgia this weekend and this time I will be taking photos with my Nikon camera and different lens, so I am pretty excited to see how the pictures will turn out.

Do you wear eyeglasses? Since I wear them and was so tired of smashing my face against the camera screen, I ordered my husband and myself an "Eye Cup" that fits on our cameras. By having this little gadget, I am able to get close enough to the object, focus and shoot the picture with a lot more comfort. I promise you, this is a great inexpensive gadget to get for yourself and your camera, you will be amazed at the difference.

Besides, when you are in the heart of nature trying to capture the beauty that is surrounding you, you want to take your time and enjoy the scene with comfort and ease.

I disagree with you Eva, I think you have captured that breath taking shot, more than once. Some of your work makes me just have to take a second and sometimes third look. You are wonderful with your craft.

I had not heard of the 55-80 lens. I did finally get myself a 2nd lens and have eyed the 40mm but hearing your review I am not sure I'll get it. We'll see I guess.

The 55-80 came with my original camera and since I was able to capture pretty good macros with that lens, I suppose I just got use to it. I am personally not thrilled about the 40mm lens but again that is just my own personal view.
